A PLACE TO LEARN, DISCOVER &
EXPLORE THE EVER CHANGING WORLD
WE DESIGN IN!
✍️ Henry Cheney
We’re here to keep you inspired and informed, with a special focus on the intersection of four key areas:
![]() CGI | ![]() Architecture |
![]() Design | ![]() Technology |
Why these four? Because together, they define the future of creativity. At HBC Visual, our love for CGI has driven us to explore its transformative power across industries, and the rapid rise of AI is rewriting the rules of design.
Yet, we remain grounded in the timeless principles of creativity: the artist behind the tool will always matter.
An idea that is not dangerous is unworthy of being called an idea at all.
MENTAL MUSINGS /
Having just returned from Glastobury I must ask myself once again, what is Glastonbury's unique magic? It's the collective presence. A place where the digital hum fades. Conversations aren't interrupted by screens; eyes meet, stories are shared, laughter rings out.
This disconnect fosters incredible community. You're not documenting, you're experiencing: dancing with strangers, sharing jokes, helping out. There's a shared understanding – everyone's committed to this temporary utopia.
Amidst the chaos, you wander, discovering new sounds and unexpected conversations. This serendipity comes from being truly open to the moment, without rigid plans.
Glastonbury is a powerful antidote to a world of constant distraction. It's a collective embrace of the present, reminding us that the richest experiences are found in shared laughter, spontaneous dance, sun burnz, and the simple act of being fully present.
CGI
In the world of CGI, something a bit more technical this week, but we saw this video from Extra 3D and loved the simplicity and detail explained in the process. Great to watch and learn for anyone interested in setting up materials and creating unique-looking renders with that extra level to them.
Architecture
In the world of Architecture, Team BLDG transformed a concrete house in rural China into The Quartet – Songzhuang Z Museum, a textile gallery. They wrapped the building in a woven red and white metal tube lattice, creating a "deconstructive" facade that mimics fabric and contrasts with traditional local architecture, while also dividing the museum into four interconnected volumes.
Design
In the world of Design, Post Company and Idaho Wood collaborated on The Ravine Collection, a lighting series that highlights wood's inherent beauty. Named after Brooklyn's last forest, the designs use simple forms and indirect lighting to illuminate the material's unique character and the surrounding space, offered in three distinct finishes: Douglas fir with heritage natural timber oil, western red cedar with natural timber oil, and yakisugi, a traditional Japanese wood-charring technique. The simplicity and beauty of the natural materials mean I want all of them!
Technology
In the world of Technology, the Infinite Machine OLTO is a durable, stylish e-bike designed for city life, blending "Cybertruck-inspired" looks with practical features. Its extruded aluminum build handles all weather. With magnetic folding pedals, two-person seating, and a hot-swappable battery, it offers a robust, convenient, and futuristic way to navigate urban streets.
The desire to create is one of the deepest yearnings of the human soul.
Doodle
Instead of relying on AI-generated images, we invite you to doodle! Sketching isn’t just for fun—it’s a way to unlock creativity and explore new ideas. Each issue, we’ll feature one doodle, and soon, we’d love to showcase your creations.
🎨 Grab a pen, unleash your imagination, and get doodling! 🎨
