A PLACE TO LEARN, DISCOVER &
EXPLORE THE EVER CHANGING WORLD
WE DESIGN IN!
✍️ Henry Cheney
We’re here to keep you inspired and informed, with a special focus on the intersection of four key areas:
![]() CGI | ![]() Architecture |
![]() Design | ![]() Technology |
Why these four? Because together, they define the future of creativity. At HBC Visual, our love for CGI has driven us to explore its transformative power across industries, and the rapid rise of AI is rewriting the rules of design.
Yet, we remain grounded in the timeless principles of creativity: the artist behind the tool will always matter.
Creativity is the power to connect the seemingly unconnected.
MENTAL MUSINGS /
We often celebrate the grand gestures in design and technology, but what about the invisible bridges?
The intuitive user interface that guides you effortlessly, the seamless integration of software, and the hidden structural supports in a building. These are the unsung heroes that make the complex feel simple, allowing us to move through our digital and physical worlds with grace.
What invisible bridges are you building, or crossing, in your creative endeavours?
CGI
In the world of CGI, there has been a flurry of new AI videos making the rounds in recent weeks and it’s all rather scary and interesting. This video is quite an insightful breakdown of some of the limitations and issues about what and how it can be done. Andrew Price (Blender Guru) raised a good point in a previous post on X about the subject of mass studio layoff from the advancements in AI. ‘Until a single artist using AI can produce a movie better than a team, also using that same AI, this won’t change. The quality bar will just increase.’
Architecture
In the world of Architecture, the beauty of a floating house in Copenhagen, that takes boat living to another level. The stunning finish and design by Garde Hvalsøe truly makes this feel more like a home than a boat. The combination of hygge and design styling really make this a one of project.
Here is a reminder that it’s London Festival of Architecture this month as well as London Design Biennale.
Design
In the world of Design, this might cross over into the world of fashion, but with it being on our doorstep here in London, and the importance of its design origins, this felt like a great addition for this issue. Retro football kits have become somewhat of a statement fashion piece in recent years. Here the inclusion of William Morris’ beautiful patterns really brings something different to the kit, and a real sense of where its origins are. Now to wait for the stock to refill so we can get ours! Nice love letter video about how this came to happen here.
Technology
In the world of Technology, 3D printing feels like it has been around for a long time, but although we’re not all living in 3D printed homes, it seems that the technology is finding its home in certain industries. Combining this with the advancements in CGI, the more detail-oriented approach to 3D printing is bringing a real detail finished approach to buildings and design, bespoke, one off approaches, from the mind of the designer.
You can’t wait for inspiration. You have to go after it with a club.
Doodle
Instead of relying on AI-generated images, we invite you to doodle! Sketching isn’t just for fun—it’s a way to unlock creativity and explore new ideas. Each issue, we’ll feature one doodle, and soon, we’d love to showcase your creations.
🎨 Grab a pen, unleash your imagination, and get doodling! 🎨
