A PLACE TO LEARN, DISCOVER &
EXPLORE THE EVER CHANGING WORLD
WE DESIGN IN!
✍️ Henry Cheney
We’re here to keep you inspired and informed, with a special focus on the intersection of four key areas:
![]() CGI | ![]() Architecture |
![]() Design | ![]() Technology |
Why these four? Because together, they define the future of creativity. At HBC Visual, our love for CGI has driven us to explore its transformative power across industries, and the rapid rise of AI is rewriting the rules of design.
Yet, we remain grounded in the timeless principles of creativity: the artist behind the tool will always matter.
Great things are done by a series of small things brought together.
MENTAL MUSINGS /
When the sun is shining, even bad days seem a bit brighter.
One of the great things about all this sunshine we’re getting in the UK isn’t just the increased levels of vitamin D we’re all crying out for. The extra hours of daylight seem to create some extra hours in the evening, something winter had stolen from us! Isn’t it strange to find yourself finishing work, pottering around, going for a walk and then before you know it, it’s 7:30pm, but it’s still light, and you have a whole evening to fill with whatever you feel like?
For me, I find this so freeing. As someone who feels often time short, these last couple of weeks have allowed me to focus on my daylight hours of productivity. Then once the sun goes down, the wind down to sleep can begin.
CGI
In the world of CGI, for those of you that don’t know about it, there’s an awesome community challenge run by Pwnisher. The latest one just concluded with over 3,000 artists from 103 countries, contributing a total 24 years of collective work! Check out the top 100, forget Ai ripping off people's work, this is some hardcore CGI from real artists at its finest.
Architecture
In the world of Architecture, making an apartment feel like a home is heavily influenced by what goes into it before someone lives there. Too often (especially in the UK) apartments aren’t ‘designed’ they are just built with the sole purpose of being sold to the next person who can afford it, with little thought as to how to create something meaningful. To address this, creating community, comfort and sustainability are all factors that are needed to bring more of a focus into creating social change around housing. This look at Nightingale Sky House in Brunswick sets a pretty good standard.
Design
In the world of Design, Japanese House London is currently exhibiting ‘The Craft of Carpentry’ exploring over 1,000 years of Japanese woodworking mastery. As someone who’s always had a love for woodworking, instilled by his grandfather, there is something about Japanese woodwork that is so special, a true embodiment of their culture in physical form. The exhibition will be on until the 6th of July 2025.
Technology
In the world of Technology, finding a balance with technology is an exerstential crisis we all have. As someone who is trying to spend less time on their phone, this simple concept from Special Projects really clicked with me. It’s one of those things when you see it you can’t help but think how simple things can be, if we prioritise ourselves over companies fighting for our screen time.
Creativity involves beaking out of established patterns in order to look at things in a different way.
Doodle
Instead of relying on AI-generated images, we invite you to doodle! Sketching isn’t just for fun—it’s a way to unlock creativity and explore new ideas. Each issue, we’ll feature one doodle, and soon, we’d love to showcase your creations.
🎨 Grab a pen, unleash your imagination, and get doodling! 🎨
